Introduction

Hello!

Jump-starting my blog with an introduction feels just right. 😊

I’m Jane—artist, illustrator, musician, self-publisher, and, well, a Jane of all trades. My creative journey has taken me through various artistic endeavors, but my heart lies in painting, whether it’s with watercolors on canvas or digitally on a screen.

Art has been an integral part of my life since my early years, ignited by my mother’s passion for painting. Growing up in 80s Germany and experiencing the late 90s technology and digital boom helped me to hone my artistic skills from a young age. Thanks to the unwavering support of my parents, my curiosity blossomed into a lifelong pursuit of knowledge in art, music, and various crafts.

My journey led me from Germany to the United States, where I explored photography in the enchanting landscapes of New Mexico. The mid 2000s brought me to Indianapolis, where I immersed myself in the world of music, playing the electric bass in multiple bands from 2006 to 2020.

Recently, I’ve circled back to my first love—painting. I’ve been perfecting my skills in watercolors and gouache, setting up shop in my home studio in Indianapolis.

Why “Nomadic Brushstrokes”? Well, it’s my nod to the desire for a bit more adventure. With remote work becoming the norm, I’m eager to break free from my studio and sketch in different settings—something I’ve missed during the lockdown.

What’s on the agenda for this blog? Expect a visual journey—art showcases, favorite supplies, travel tales, reviews, inspiration, tutorials, my minimalism journey and more.
