A while back, I ordered a few SN^2 pads from Ben Rowley after watching a video review on SBREBrown’s YouTube Channel.
This paper is beautifully smooth – different than Rhodia’s smooth coating – SN² has some tooth to it. It is made for vintage nibs, which are generally sharper – sharper nibs might snag or cut through the coating of other papers.
There are 3 types of ruling: Standard Descender, Dot pad, and Blank. The pads that I ordered were two 5.5″ x 8.5″ in Standard Descender and Dot Pad, and one 4.25″ x 5.5″ Blank note pad. They are well bound with glue at the top and the pages are white. The pages tear out easily.
This paper works just great with different nibs on dip pens and fountain pens. I did not experience any bleed or super show through with the inks that I tried. (The splatter at the bottom was intentional to see if there would be show through with drops of ink.)
Other mediums do well, also. It’s a nice writing experience with markers and pencils, since the paper has tooth. Sharpie (show through) and watercolors (buckling of paper) do not perform well, as expected, but all other markers/pens/pencils did great, including the Pilot Parallel 6.0, which lays quite a lot of ink.
I use this paper for notes, sketches, and especially for letter writing, since I can write on both sides. Here’s a speed paint YouTube video I made with the small blank pad:
